How to apply - your pathway
A rough guide to the application process
In oder to apply to ISL (and the University) there are some steps you have to take. To make this process as easy as possible - here an overview:
Application Process

Contact us
Step 01Contact ISL or our local agencies.

Complete current education
Step 02Finish your Secondary School or Bachelors.

Send your documents
Step 03Send a copy of your Secondary School certificate, transcript, passport and, if applicable, Bachelor certificate and transcript.

We check the documents
Step 04We check your documents for eligibility and send you an offer letter.

Pay the registration fee
Step 05Pay 600€ registration fee.

Conditional admission
Step 06We forward your documents to the university and send you the conditional admission letter (2-4 weeks).

Pay remaining fees
Step 07Pay the remaining fees to ISL.

Online A1 & A2 German
Step 08Many students start German classes with us now while waiting for the visa process.

Insurance and blocked account
Step 09We help organize the insurance and help open a blocked account, where you can deposit €11,904 (May 2026 - this number increases every year).

Book visa appointment
Step 10Book a visa appointment. We will help you prepare.

Confirmation
Step 11We send you the visa kit with the booking confirmation from ISL.

Visa appointment
Step 12Pass your embassy interview and get the visa. Afterwards you can book a flight to Frankfurt.

Start at ISL
Step 13We pick you up from the airport and you can now continue your German course to C1 level at ISL.

Start at a university
GoalYou can now start at a university or your “foundation year”.
